The scientific Journal «Sheep, goats and wool production» was registered in the Russian Press Committee on 10.08.1995 № 014000. It is the only industry-specific scientific and practical publication in Russia and CIS countries.
The Journal has been included in the list of peer reviewed leading scientific journals recommended by the expert board of the State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles (VAK) since January,1, 2007 for publishing of the principal research results reported in PhD and Doctoral thesis on animal husbandry and veterinary medicine.
The Journal covers a wide range of questions concerning animal rearing, selection, genetics, reproduction, keeping, feeding, nutrition, production technologies; quality of wool, meat, milk; preventive measures and disease treatment of sheep and goats. Among the authors there are researchers, university professors, degree seeking applicants, PhD-students, specialists in agricultural sphere as well as agro-industrial workers.
The leading scientists in the field of sheep breeding are involved in the work of the Editorial board which includes Doctors, Professors, members and corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The Journal publication frequency is four issues per year – one issue every three months.
Aleksandr Ivanivich Erokhin
Erokhin Aleksandr Ivanivich was born in 1928. In 1946 he graduated from high school and in 1951 - the Moscow Fur Institute.
In the period from 1951 to 1962 he worked in the Tadzhik SSR: firstly as a livestock technician in Tavil-Dorinskiy regional agricultural department, then a researcher in the Tadzhik Research Institute if Animal Husbandry, head of the Department of Livestock Husbandry at Faysobad agricultural experimental station of Moscow Agricultural Academy affiliate in the Tadzhik SSR. In 1962-1977 he continued work as a researcher and head of the Department of Sheep Breeding in the All-Union Research Institute of Animal Husbandry (VIZh), in 1977-1981 as a Director of the Research Institute of Animal Husbandry and Forage Production in Yaroslavl’; in 1981-1982 – a head of the Sheep Breeding Department in VIZh; in 1982-1999 he was a head of the Sheep Breeding Department in the Russian Timiryazev State Agrarian University and starting from 1999 till the present time he has been working there as a Professor of the Department of Small Animal Science.
In 1958 he successfully passed his PhD thesis defense, in 1978 defended doctorate thesis, in 1980 he became a Professor, in 1997 he was awarded the title of Honoured Science Worker of Russia, in 2008 – the Russian Federation Government Prize in educational sphere.
A.I. Erokhin is a well-known scientist in the field of animal husbandry. He is the leading specialist in Russia and CIS countries working on problems of breeding, genetics, reproduction, nutrition, keeping of sheep and goats as well as on technologies of joint products manufacturing.
A.I. Erokhin substantially contributed to preparing of academic and scientific staff as well as to training of high-quality specialists for agricultural industry. He established a good scientific school having prepared 6 Doctors of Science and 53 Doctors of Philosophy among which there are many representatives from neighbouring countries and beyond.
He has a great load of publications, more than 400 printed works, which include 5 basic course textbooks on sheep breeding for university and college students, 11 educational guides, 20 monographs. He is the author of a number of breeding achievements, inventions, confirmed by invention certificates.
In 1995 A.I. Erokhin reestablished the scientific Journal «Sheep, goats and wool production», which is the only industry-specific scientific and practical publication in Russia and CIS countries and which is included in the list of peer reviewed leading scientific journals recommended by the expert board of the State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles (VAK) for publishing of the principal research results reported in PhD and Doctoral thesis. A.I. Erokhin has been the senior editor of this Journal for 20 years.
Each scientific article should meet the requirements of the State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles (VAK) and contain the following information:
The article should have a review.
The manuscript should be signed by the author (or authors) and presented by the organization where the author/authors works/work. The full name of the organization should be given without abbreviations.
Journal subscribers and advertising providers have the priority in manuscript publication.
Manuscripts printed on one-side of an A4 paper size must be sent to the editorial office.
Submissions should not exceed 6 printed pages including figures, photos, tables (no more than 3).
Submissions should, ideally, be sent in a single Word file, typed in 1.5 spacing font style Times New Roman 14 pt.
The title of the article should be concise and informative. International System of Units (SI system) should be used for all measurements.
Manuscripts can be submitted only if the copies of subscription receipt to the magazine «Sheep, goats and wool production» are enclosed. The number of copies should correspond to the number of authors, for example, three authors should send three copies etc. The publication price remains the same – 500 rubles for 1 page of an A4 paper size. Publication for PhD-students is free.
Manuscripts not corresponding to the listed requirements are rejected.
